Suspicious Activity

Cross Lanes, WV- On Sunday, April 16, 2023, around 10:30 p.m., Sheriff’s Deputy K.B. Eskew responded to a suspicious person call at Speedway on Big Tyler Road in Cross Lanes. Metro 911 dispatchers had received a call where a witness observed 4 juvenile males walking towards Speedway with ski masks and overheard them planning to rob the store.

Deputies located four juvenile males loitering in and around the Speedway Convenience Store when they arrived. One of the males immediately fled on foot while deputies detained the three others. Deputies found sufficient evidence to suggest the juveniles had already been engaging or planning to engage in criminal activity.

All four juveniles have been identified by deputies and they are between the ages of 15 and 17 years old. Deputies have reason to believe the juveniles may have been involved in other area crimes and they are currently working with Nitro Police Department and Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Section to determine if there are any correlations to these other incidents.

This case is currently an active investigation and charges are expected to be filed at a later date. Investigators are requesting that if you reside in the area and have any video surveillance of these four males walking around the 10:30 p.m. period last night, to please contact us immediately.

Should you have any information regarding this case, please contact Deputy K.W. Eskew or Detective C.M. Morgan at Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, 304-357-0169 or submit a “tip” at www.kanawhasheriff.us under the “Tips” tab.
