Mink Shoals Man Charged with Wanton Endangerment
Deputies responded to Dutch Road in Mink Shoals at about 5:30am this morning after neighbors reported hearing gunshots in the area. Other neighbors reported their home being struck by projectiles from the gunfire. While on their way, additional homes in the area reported a man knocking on their doors. More deputies were dispatched to the area. After arriving in the area, they saw a man later identified as Aaron Shaffer age 27 of 174 Dutch Road walking toward them with a shotgun. Deputies commanded Shaffer drop the gun and he did. He was arrested without incident, charged with one count of Wanton Endangerment and taken to Kanawha County Magistrate Court for arraignment.
Deputies noticed Shaffer had barricaded his house doors and they became concerned of potential Booby Traps/Improvised Explosive Devices since many times they are found together. At this time, the KCSO Bomb Squad is awaiting a Search Warrant to search Shaffer’s home for evidence and render the home safe.
Last night Shaffer called 911 to report prowlers outside his home but Deputies were unable to locate evidence of such.
