Members of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Division tracked Fatima Richardson (25 years old of Hopewell, VA) to her mother’s residence in Hopewell, VA. Richardson was wanted on a circuit court capias for violation of probation with the underlying charge of possession of a stolen vehicle.
Warrants Division members, who are also members of the U.S. Marshal’s C.U.F.F.E.D. Fugitive Task Force, sent a collateral lead to the U.S. Marshal’s Office in Richmond, Va. During the morning hours of August 6, 2014, Richardson was arrested by members of that office. It is expected she will be extradited to answer the capias in Kanawha County Circuit Court in the near future.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office and United States Marshal’s Office have worked together for almost a decade as part of this task force. The combination of local contacts and knowledge with federal resources has resulted in hundreds of arrests of fugitives in and around Kanawha County.
As is always the case in criminal matters, the charge against Ms. Richardson is merely an accusation. She is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
