On August 31, 2014 human remains were located along the bank of a creek beneath Reamer Road, three miles south of the City of Clendenin, WV. The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office is now able to release additional information about the remains, and is asking for public assistance to learn more.
After the remains were recovered they were sent away to experts and examined. The doctors and scientists determined the deceased was a white male around 50 years old.
He had suffered a traumatic brain injury in recent years. The injury may have been the result of a car or ATV crash. He was also missing several teeth that probably were knocked out or removed at the same time the brain injury occurred. He also had broken ribs.
The injury resulted in a subdural hemorrhage, which led to brain surgery at the time of that accident.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office asks for anyone who knows the identity of the subject or has other information about these remains to call 304-357-0169.

On August 31, 2014 at approximately 3:30 p.m. a couple riding an ATV along Reamer Road saw something suspicious. They were searching for a lost dog in the area. While looking at a creek from a bridge they saw what they believed were animal remains. When they drove to the creek to check more closely they found what they believed were human remains and dialed 911.
Metro 911 dispatched a Deputy with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office. Sergeant J. Haynes responded and concurred the remains appeared to be human.
Detectives of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office are now on scene recovering the remains. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of West Virginia has also sent a death investigator to assist. An investigation is underway.
The remains are located about three miles south of Clendenin on Reamer Road. Anyone with information on the remains is asked to call 304-357-0169, or submit a tip on our website atwww.kanawhasheriff.us.
