On January 28, 2015 a robbery occurred at the Clendenin 7-Eleven store on Spencer Road.  Two men entered the store and stole cash after brandishing what appeared to be a hatchet.  The money was stolen directly from the register by the robbers.  Deputies with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office responded.

As the initial investigation began at the scene other Deputy Sheriffs searched the area with a canine.  It was believed after fleeing on foot the suspects reached a vehicle and fled the area.

Another robbery occurred the same night in Big Otter, (Clay County) WV at a Go-Mart store.  In that case the West Virginia State Police later identified and charged with robbery Isaiah Todd Murphy (25 years old) and Bruce E. Bird (28 years old) both of Clay County.

Since that time detectives with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office have charged both subjects with the robbery of the Clendenin 7-Eleven store.

Mr. Murphy was already arrested and is at Central Regional Jail.  Mr. Bird is still wanted.  He is commonly called B. J. Bird.  Attached is a mug shot from a 2010 arrest.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 304-357-0169 or submit a tip on our website at www.kanawhasheriff.us.

As is always the case in criminal matters, the charges against Mr. Murphy and Mr. Bird are merely accusations.  Each is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
