On March 26, 2015, at about 8:30 p.m., a 911 call was placed by people driving Coal River Road near Saint Albans, WV.  They found a five year old girl walking alone and crying.  She was located near the intersection with Fairview Drive.  Corporal J. S. Cochran of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched by Metro 911 staff.

Within 30 minutes Corporal Cochran located the girl’s residence.  He spoke to her mother, Katasha Logsdon (26 years old of Saint Albans, WV), and step-father, William Aliff, Jr. (37 years old of Saint Albans, WV).  Both were intoxicated.  The five-year old said she was left alone and waited at home for her mom to come back.  After waiting for a long time she decided to walk to her grandparents’ house.  During her walk she was located by the 911 callers.

Child Protective Services handled temporary custody arrangements for the child.  They will conduct a concurrent investigation with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.  Ms. Logsdon and Mr. Aliff were arrested and charged with child neglect.

Attached are mug shots taken during their arrest Thursday night.  As is always the case in criminal matters, the charges against Ms. Logsdon and Mr. Aliff are merely accusations.  Each is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
