Over the last two weeks thieves have stolen copper telecommunications cable in the Chelyan, WV area near the RR tracks along James River Road and Rt. 61.  Several spans of telecommunications cable was cut down from the telephone poles which resulted in a service outage for several residential and business customers in that area.

The lines belong to Frontier Communications and a great effort has been put into restoring service.  Many people in this area rely on their landline phone service in the event of an emergency.  The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office is working together with Frontier Corporate Security to investigate these incidents.  We ask the public to help identify those involved.

Attached are images from surveillance cameras at a recycling center where a large amount of copper was recently brought.  The recycling center refused to purchase the metal, and called law enforcement.  Deputies believe the female seen in these photos was involved in the thefts.  The female exited the silver car seen in the other attached photos.

Anyone with information on the identity of those pictured, or about the crimes is asked to contact the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office at 304-357-0169 or Frontier Security Operations Center at 800-590-6605.  Tips can also be received through our website at www.kanawhasheriff.us, or through email at tips@kanawhasheriff.us.
