The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office has scheduled additional patrols this weekend for Halloween. During Thursday night Deputy Sheriffs will be patrolling neighborhoods with congestion and high traffic, working to keep trick-or-treating kids safe. Friday and Saturday nights the additional Deputies will be targeting areas prone to violence and vandalism, as well as patrolling for impaired drivers.
Chief Deputy Mike Rutherford said, “We encourage parents to be watchful of their children while out with them, and hope kids will carry flashlights or have something reflective so drivers can see them easier. And we encourage motorists to be extremely mindful of all the little ones walking the streets Thursday night.”
Parents should also check candies for signs of tampering before letting kids eat the pieces they collected.
