On November 19, 2015 at 1:11 a.m. a crash was reported on Kanawha State Forest Drive near Smith Road. A white SUV had crashed and the driver was ejected from the vehicle.
Corporal J. S. Cochran responded. During the course of the investigation he learned the driver of the SUV, a 2000 Chevrolet Trail Blazer, went off the roadway to the right. The vehicle struck a utility pole then overturned, rolling at least twice.
During the crash the driver was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was Abraham Floyd, Jr. (37 years old of Charleston, WV).
Prior to the crash a BOLO (be on the lookout) had been issued for the vehicle. Another motorist believed the driver of the Trailblazer (bearing the same license plate) was intoxicated.
Note: Neither of the drivers killed overnight were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
