Since mid-October 2015 the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office has investigated a string of breaking and entering crimes in the Elkview patrol area.  These break-ins were mostly to garages and outbuildings in the following areas:  Blue Creek, New Hope Road, Pinch, and Milliken (north of Capital High School).

This week the Deputy Sheriffs investigating the burglaries collected property from at least 22 of those crimes.  Last night Elizabeth Thompson (26 years old of Charleston) was arrested for transferring and receiving stolen property.  Randy Scott Sanders (22 years old of Charleston) was arrested on breaking and entering charges.  At least one more arrest is forthcoming in connection with these crimes.

Attached are mug shots of Ms. Thompson and Mr. Sanders.  The charges against them are merely accusations.  Each is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The recovered stolen property has been secured in one of our evidence bays.  It’s being analyzed and sorted today.  Most of the items recovered have already been linked to specific crimes, and the rightful owners have been or will be notified soon.  But investigators don’t know where a few items were stolen.  This may be because incomplete property lists were given by victims when the crime was reported to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, or because the breaking and entering was never reported.

We encourage victims to call us at 304-357-0169 if there are additional items to report stolen from these break-ins.  Information can also be emailed to our detectives at tips@kanawhasheriff.us.   And tips can be sent through our website at www.kanawhasheriff.us.
