This Saturday evening (March 19, 2016, 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.) the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office will hold a high visibility sobriety checkpoint near Elkview on U.S. Route 119.  This checkpoint is made possible through funding from the Governor’s Highway Safety Program.

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office has no tolerance for impaired driving in Kanawha County and randomly conducts checkpoints and targeted patrols throughout the year to target impaired drivers on the roads of Kanawha County.

The GHSP has asked us to also forward information about smartphone apps available for WV drivers:

The West Virginia Governor’s Highway Safety Program and Mobile Life Solutions have created a free app to help fight drinking and driving.  The app is called “Driver Sober West Virginia” and is available at http://www.DriverSoberWV.com

Also, the West Virginia Governor’s Highway Safety Program and Mobile Life Solutions have created an app to help fight distracted driving.  The app is called “TextLimit” and is available athttp://www.textlimit.com.  The app is free for one year with the coupon code NOTEXTWV.
