On March 18, 2016 at about 3:50 p.m. Metro 911 received calls of a shooting in the neighborhood of Everest Circle, near Saint Albans, WV.  Deputy Sheriffs with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.  While they were on their way dispatchers spoke to neighbors who relayed a lot of helpful information.
The shooter said he was attacked by the person he shot.  The shooter put his pistol away before Deputies arrived.  The patient was shot in the legs, and sustained serious injuries.  When Deputy Sheriffs first got on scene the shooter had placed a tourniquet around the upper thigh of the patient, slowing the blood loss.
Deputies relayed to dispatchers the area was safe for medics, and an ambulance with the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority approached.  Medics immediately began treating the patient.  They asked a Deputy Sheriff to drive the ambulance to Thomas Memorial Hospital so they could both work on the injured man.
After they arrived at that hospital, arrangements were made for another ambulance to transport him to Charleston Area Medical Center’s General Division for treatment to the traumatic injuries.  No update on his condition is available at this time.
Detectives with the Kanawha Bureau of Investigation are investigating the incident.  The shooter has been cooperative.  Witnesses also came forward and were being interviewed.  Crime scene technicians have processed the scene for evidence, which was collected and will be further examined in our laboratory.
The names of those involved will likely be released tomorrow.  The facts of the case will be discussed with the Prosecuting Attorney before decisions are made about criminal charges against anyone involved in this matter.
