On July 12, 2013 Captain J. S. Bailes of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of check fraud. The victim reported one check forged and uttered at a grocery store in Cross Lanes, WV. During the next several days additional forged checks were identified. The account belonged to the victim and her mother, who is now deceased.
Checks have been passed in several counties in the region, including one at a Go-Mart in Teays Valley, WV. Surveillance video was obtained, and the digital forensics examiner with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy J. M. Burns, was able to produce enhanced, still images of a suspect.
Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect in the photos is asked to call Captain J. S. Bailes at 304-357-0169.
Note: Captain Bailes said the victim was looking forward to seeing this story on the evening news broadcasts. I recognize it is late in the day, and I take responsibility for the timing of the email. I hope you’re able to add this to the evening scripts, and you have my thanks for any assistance you can render.
