A warrant has been issued for Christopher Dwayne Bennett, 35 years old of Elkview, WV, for malicious assault after a shooting in the Clendenin area of Kanawha County this afternoon.

The victim of the shooting, Mr. Bobby Hall of Elkview, went to a location on Kelly Hill Road searching for a friend’s stolen vehicle. While there he got into a fight, then left. When he returned he got into another argument over the same issue, this time with Mr. Bennett. During that fight Mr. Bennett shot Mr. Hall in the shoulder and face causing what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. Mr. Hall was being treated at an area hospital this evening.
During the investigation Mr. Bennett’s identity was learned and this evening a warrant was signed for his arrest. Attached is a photo of Mr. Bennett.

As is always the case in criminal matters, the charge against Mr. Bennett is merely an accusation. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
