Press Release – Shooting Moses Street

On January 17, 2017, at approximately 11:13 am, Metro Communications received a report of a two individuals who had been shot at 421 Moses Street, in St. Albans, Kanawha County.   Kanawha County Deputies responded to the scene and were able to locate on male a block away from this address who had in fact been shot.   Deputies on scene gathered information and were able to determine that initial information provided to Metro Communications was incorrect and that only one person had been shot.  

 

Detectives from the Kanawha Bureau of Investigation arrived at the scene and began the interview the individuals involved.  Based on interviews conducted it was determined that an altercation started inside of the residence located at 421 Moses Street.   The victim of the shooting, Jeremy Rucker, 27 yoa from St. Albans, began to physically assault Lemuel Rogers, 71 yoa.  After being struck by Jeremy Rucker, Mr. Rogers states he shot Mr. Rucker to defend himself.  

 

Mr. Rogers allows Jeremy Rucker and his wife to use his home periodically as a place to shower, as they are currently homeless. 

 

Mr. Rucker was transported to CAMC General Hospital for treatment.  His injuries did not appear to be life threatening.  Mr. Rogers was also injured in the incident and was transported by a Deputy to Thomas Hospital.   Mr. Rogers has been treated and released.
