On May 14, 2017 at 3:44 p.m. a 911 call was placed reporting a shooting in the 300 block of Campbells Creek Drive.  Metro 911 received word a man had been shot in the leg.

Deputies of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.  When they arrived they found a father had shot his son during an argument that turned into a struggle over a gun.  The shooter, Richard Mollohan (70 years old), and his son, Robert Mollohan (44 years old), of Campbells Creek were both still on scene when Deputies arrived.

According to those present there were two females with the son before his father confronted them about possible drug use.  During the argument there was a struggle over a gun Richard Mollohan had in his pocket when he confronted Robert.

Richard was shot about the knee and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.  The injury is not believed to be life threatening.  No arrests have been made, and the fullness of the investigation will be reviewed by the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney.  That office will decide what, if any, criminal charges should be filed.

The evidence and statements are still be reviewed by the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.
