On July 14, 2017 at approximately 12:42 am, Deputies were dispatched to US Rt. 60 in the area of Witcher Creek, to investigate a report of pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle on the roadway. Upon arrival Deputies discovered that the female who was struck was deceased. Preliminary investigation from the investigators on scene, showed that the female was walking in the traffic lane of US Rt. 60 just east of Witcher Creek. The female was wearing dark colored clothing, and by the time the driver of the striking vehicle observed the female in the roadway, the driver was unable to swerve to avoid the female. The driver of the vehicle called 911 and remained in scene until law enforcement arrived.
The identity of the victim and the driver are not being released at this time. No criminal charges were filed against the driver. The investigation will be completed and then submitted to the Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office to be reviewed.
