Yesterday afternoon, September 19, 2017, a shooting was reported in the Rand area of Kanawha County. Multiple people called 911 reporting a man was driving a car saying he’d been shot in the back. The victim, a 45 year old man, was located on Clemson Avenue and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Detectives with the Kanawha Bureau of Investigation were able to determine the man was not shot, but stabbed. It was also determined he had been driven around the area by a friend prior to getting out of the car on Clemson Avenue, and did not drive himself as was initially reported. The investigators also located the residence where the incident occurred. According to witnesses the man was engaged in a family argument and his daughter stabbed him in the back causing non-life-threatening injuries. The daughter that stabbed him suffers from a mental illness and has not been charged with a crime.
The investigation, when concluded, will be reviewed by the Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office who will make a decision about any criminal charges.
