In the early morning hours of May 2, 2018 Deputy Boner of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to accompany Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority responders to Mobile Manor near Saint Albans, WV.  Callers said there was a three year old child bleeding from the head and unattended by parents.

When Deputies arrived they located the child and asked where she lived.  She pointed towards a nearby home and Deputies went that way.  No doors were open or unlocked, and only a window with a torn screen six feet off the ground was open.  Deputies believe the child fell from that window and hit her head.

After they were able to get into the home they located the child’s mother who was asleep.  The house was filthy, filled with trash, old food, and described as unsafe to live in.  The child’s mother, Marlina Beth Davis-Harmon (40 years old of Saint Albans) did not know where her daughter was, and she was believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

While Deputies were investigating the child’s father, Matthew Danberry (31 years old of Saint Albans) arrived, with the odor of marijuana on his person.  He also lives with the mother and child.  During a search of the residence evidence of drug abuse was also located.

The child was not hospitalized.  Her injuries were treated and Child Protective Services placed her with other family members overnight.

Ms. Davis-Harmon and Mr. Danberry were both arrested for child neglect resulting in injury.  They were taken to South Central Regional Jail overnight to await arraignment by video this morning.

As is always the case in criminal matters, the charges against Ms. Davis-Harmon and Mr. Danberry are merely accusations.  Each is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
