Fatal Auto Accident
Deputies are reconstructing a fatal accident that occurred on I77 that occurred just north of the City Limits of Charleston around 2:30a this morning. Edward Pete Bryant age 48 of Mile Fork Road, Big Chimney was driving his 1993 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck in the southbound lane of I77 on his way to work when he was struck head-on by a car driven by Angela Renee Walker age 46 of 44th Street Charleston who was traveling the wrong direction.
Walker was driving a 2013 Hyundai Elantra north in the southbound lane when her vehicle struck Bryant’s truck. Both drivers were lone occupants and they were transported to CAMC General Division where Edward Pete Bryant was pronounced deceased. Angela Renee Walker sustained serious injuries and she remains in CAMC General Division.
Investigators believe alcohol to be involved in the crash and ask anyone with information to contact the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office at (304) 357-0169 and speak with Lt. F.D. Beasley II or Deputy J.L. Lester. Callers can remain anonymous. The accident remains under criminal investigation.
