Last night a shooting was reported on Sandy Lane in Eskdale (Cabin Creek), WV. Mark Allen Auber II (32 of Eskdale) called 911 to report shooting his brother, Michael Anthony Auber. The two were arguing outside a house when Mark said he was acting in self-defense and shot Michael twice, then kicked him as he lay on the ground.
The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment to gunshot wounds in a leg and his left arm. The injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. No update on his condition is yet available this morning. The shooter was interviewed by detectives and charged late last night with malicious wounding, a felony, and domestic battery, a misdemeanor.
Attached is a mugshot taken during his arrest. As is always the case in criminal matters, the charges against Mr. Auber are merely accusations. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
