Today before noon a woman was stabbed outside The Tobacco Shop on Sissonville Drive. Cheryl Fisher, 57 of Charleston, was stabbed in the back during a brief argument, then got into her car and drove off.
Ms. Fisher arrived at the Sissonville Health Center soon thereafter and was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Charleston. She died of her injuries a short time later
It was not immediately known where the stabbing occurred, but the fight on the parking lot and stabbing victim at the health center were linked. Video of the incident was reviewed providing a lead on a suspect.
The suspect, Cynthia Gatewood, 30 of Nitro, WV, was located at the Family Dollar store. She is now under arrest by detectives with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.
She is expected to be arraigned on the charge of murder before a Kanawha County Magistrate soon.
As is always the case in criminal matters the charge against Ms. Gatewood is merely an accusation. She is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
