Yesterday evening at around 8:50 p.m. a Deputy Sheriff driving her patrol cruiser was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Route 60 and Campbells Creek Drive. Corporal S. M. Adams was traveling west on Route 60 toward Charleston. As she approached the intersection with Campbells Creek Drive a white Nissan Versa pulled onto Route 60 from Campbells Creek Drive, attempting to make a right turn to follow the vehicle in front of her which had just pulled out in front of the cruiser.
The Nissan struck the cruiser’s passenger side, causing damage to both vehicles. Cpl. Adams was taken to an area hospital for treatment to injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the other vehicle was cited for failure to stop at a red light.
The crash was witnessed by another driver who was behind Cpl. Adams’ cruiser when the crash occurred.
