Yesterday the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office assisted the U. S. Marshals CUFFED Task Force with locating Jacob Harper (25 years old of Newcomerstown, OH) who was wanted for murder in Guersney County, Ohio.  Mr. Harper has family in Charleston and Clendenin, WV.

He was located hiding behind furniture in a house on Middle Branch Road (Jordan Creek area of Kanawha County, WV).  The Task Force was comprised of law enforcement officers from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, Roane County Sheriff’s Office, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, West Virginia State Police, Ravenswood Police Department, and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Prior to locating Jacob Harper, two of his relatives were arrested for being prohibited persons in possession of a firearm.  While searching for Jacob Harper at a house on Garrison Avenue in Charleston, WV, Deputies located a pistol possessed by Henry Harper (55 years old of Charleston, WV) and Laura Harper (56 years old of Charleston, WV).  They were arrested and taken to South Central Regional Jail.

As is always the case in criminal matters, the charges against these subjects are merely accusations.  Each is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.  Attached are mugshots of Henry and Laura Harper.

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office’s Warrants Squad routinely assists U. S. Marshals with locating wanted subjects in our area.  We strive to partner with other law enforcement agencies to keep our communities safe, and bring to justice those with warrants.
