A fatal crash on Route 60 East, just east of the Malden exit, has that direction of the road closed. A vehicle traveling the wrong way struck a truck traveling east. The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The two occupants of the other vehicle were transported to an area hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.
The road is expected to be closed approximately two hours. Traffic is being diverted into Malden, creating heavier than normal traffic around the crash location. Please plan alternate routes (on the other side of the Kanawha River) if your destination is farther east, or prepare for heavy traffic if you must travel the affected area.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. The names of those involved is not being released at this time.
