On March 11, 2014 at approximately 9:50 p.m. a Toyota Corolla was being driven east on I-64 near Cross Lanes, WV. The vehicle went off the roadway to the right, onto the shoulder. It struck the guardrail, then went over the embankment coming to rest in a ditch along New Goff Mountain Road. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle.
Members of the Tyler Mountain and Institute Volunteer Fire Departments responded to assist. They were able to extricate the driver from the wreckage. She was then transported by an ambulance with the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority to Thomas Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The crash is being investigated by Deputy S. M. Adams. The investigation into the cause of the crash is on-going. Weather was not a factor. The driver’s current condition is unknown.
