On the morning of May 22, 2014 the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the WV Department of Corrections that a capias was issued in Monongalia County, WV, for Donald Lee Taylor. Mr. Taylor was on parole for murder, but had removed his home confinement monitoring device from his leg. The Department of Corrections had obtained information Mr. Taylor was staying with someone on New Hope Road in the Elkview area of Kanawha County.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office S.T.O.P. Team assisted Warrant Team members with the search. After checking the New Hope Road address and following leads they located Mr. Taylor hiding beneath a mattress in a house on Walgrove Road.
Mr. Taylor was arrested and taken to KCSO headquarters for processing, then to South Central Regional Jail.
In addition to highway interdiction and drug investigation efforts, the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office’s S.T.O.P. Team frequently arrests those with active warrants.
Attached is a mug shot of Mr. Taylor. As is always the case in criminal proceedings, the charges against Mr. Taylor are merely accusations. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
