On June 10, 2014, at approximately 2:45 a.m. a 911 call was placed from Amandaville Court, near Saint Albans, WV.  The caller said he had been stabbed in the chest.  Within ten minutes Kanawha County Deputy Sheriffs arrived on scene and made it safe for medics from the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority to treat the victim.

Edward McDuffie was the injured person.  He was injured by his son, Matthew McDuffie (22 years old of Saint Albans, WV).  According to the criminal complaint on file at Kanawha County Magistrate Court, Edward McDuffie, his wife Priscilla, and their son Matthew were consuming alcoholic beverages.  A verbal argument began between Matthew and Priscilla.  Things escalated as Matthew threw lighter fluid in his mother’s face.  Matthew and Edward then got into a fight during which Edward received a laceration to his chest.  Matthew then left the residence.

The injury was not life-threatening.  Edward McDuffie was transported to an area hospital for treatment to his injuries.

Matthew McDuffie later returned to the residence.  He was arrested and charged with domestic battery.  Attached is a mug shot taken during his arrest.  As is always the case in criminal matters, the charge against Mr. McDuffie is merely an accusation.  He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
