At approximately 8:00 p.m. on September 20, 2014, Corporal J. L. Lester and others from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office responded to a series of crashes on I-77 between the 96 and 97 mile markers. Cinder blocks were in the north and south bound traffic lanes obstructing the road.
Approximately ten vehicles were involved in crashes related to the obstructed roadway. No one was injured in the crashes. Damage mostly consisted of flat tires, bent wheels, and busted fluid lines. The WV DOT Division of Highways was alerted to the debris, and the roadway was reopened around 9:30 p.m.
