Dunbar Police and the Kanawha Bureau of Investigation continue to investigate the case of a deceased body located in an abandoned building near 19th Street and Myers Avenue in Dunbar on the night of September 19, 2014.  An autopsy was performed at the West Virginia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, however, due to the decomposed state of the body, an identification has yet to be made.  Foul play is not currently suspected but has not been ruled out.  Investigators are asking for any information to assist in the investigation of this case or identification of the body.

The body is believed to be that of an unknown aged female, approximately 5’7" tall, of slim or medium build, and possibly with dark colored hair.  It is believed that the person had been deceased for at least several weeks prior to the discovery on September 19th.  Evidence on scene leads investigators to believe that the person was sleeping in an abandoned residence, therefore missing persons or homeless persons are of particular interest in this case.

Any information regarding this case can be forwarded to the Dunbar Police Department anonymous tip line at 304-766-0201, the business office at 304-766-0204, or online at www.kanawhasheriff.us.
