On Saturday September 27 from 10:00a until 2:00p the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office will be participating with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration in an effort  to ensure proper disposal of unused prescription medications. During the hours above persons can drop off their unused medications to the Chelyan, Elkview, Sissonville or St. Albans Detachments of the KCSO with no questions asked.

We encourage anyone with unused or leftover prescription medications to properly dispose of those medications by participating in this program. Improper disposal includes flushing them into the sewer system or placing them into the garbage where they may eventually seep into the soil and water table at a landfill.

Detachment Locations

Chelyan Detachment                    200 Upper Kanawha Valley Way, Cabin Creek

Elkview Detachment                     1078 Main Street , Elkview

Sissonville Detachment                6438 Sissonville Drive, Sissonville

St. Albans Detachment                 6805 Ohio Avenue, St. Albans

Additionally, unused prescription medications may be dropped off at the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters located at the W. Kent Carper Justice and Public Safety Building 301 Virginia Street East in Charleston, Monday thru Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm excluding Holidays.
