September 25, 2014: Attempted Burglary on Avesta Drive

On September 25, 2014, shortly after 1:00 a.m., Kanawha County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to an address in the 1800 block of Avesta Drive, near Saint Albans, WV, for a reported burglary in progress.  Metro 911 received a call from a resident who said someone had tried to break into their house.  The caller said he struck the intruder with a baseball bat and the intruder fled.

 

Deputies arrived and began searching the area.  They met with the resident and took a statement from him.  He said he and his wife were home when someone attempting to force open a door to his bedroom that opens to outside the house.  He grabbed a baseball bat and struck the intruder as he entered.  The suspect made it back outside and fled.

 

Deputies searched for the suspect in the area surrounding the house.  They also processed the crime scene for evidence, some of which was collected.

 

Neither resident was injured.  The suspect was described a white male, approximately 5’9” tall with short blonde hair.  He is believed to be approximately 30 years old and was last seen wearing a light colored t-shirt.
