On June 15, 2015 an 80 years old man called Metro 911 to report a robbery in the Cross Lanes area. Deputy K. B. Daugherty of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to investigate. Upon arrival the Deputies observed minor injuries to the victim.
The caller described being attacked from behind has he walked home toward Kensington Court in Cross Lanes. He had been at McNalley’s Pub earlier and met a woman who asked him for money on several occasions. When he left she followed him to the Kroger parking lot, where he saw her looking inside several cars. He went into the grocery store, then took a path toward his residence. When he got to the trailer park at Kensington Court he was hit on the head from behind. His remaining cash was stolen from him, then the attacker fled.
Deputies spoke with other neighbors, reviewed security camera footage on multiple systems, and interviewed people at the bar. They were able to identify the attacker as the same woman who followed the victim. A warrant has been obtained for Kimberly Ann Rhodes, 48 years old of Cross Lanes. She is charged with robbery.
Following the investigation into this robbery, additional steps were taken on another robbery that occurred November 28, 2014 at Jolie’s at 5229 Big Tyler Road, Cross Lanes, WV. In that incident a clerk was leaving work in the early morning hours and was robbed at knife-point in her vehicle. A canine tracked from that scene to Ms. Rhodes’ residence. Ms. Rhodes has now been charged in that robbery, as well.
On June 23, 2015 the Warrants Division of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office contacted Ms. Rhodes. She agreed to meet them and was arrested on June 24, 2015. Attached is a mug shot from that arrest. Following arraignment she was taken to South Central Regional Jail in lieu of a $10,000 cash bond.
As is always the case in criminal matters, the charges against Ms. Rhodes are merely accusations. She is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
