On July 23, 2015 Angela Fields (48 years old of Cross Lanes, WV) was arrested by the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office for obstructing an officer, a misdemeanor. The charge was the result of an investigation that began on July 20, 2015. Ms. Fields daughter, a fourteen year old girl named Autumn, was reported missing on July 20, 2015 by her father. Her father has full-custody of the child.
On the day she was reported missing Deputy Sheriffs checked several locations for the juvenile. She was missing since July 19, 2015 and presumed runaway. Detectives continuing the investigation spoke to Ms. Fields several times regarding her missing daughter. Ms. Fields repeatedly told the investigators she had no information about her daughter’s disappearance or whereabouts, and had not heard from her.
Ms. Fields directed detectives to several of her daughter’s friends who she said could help the detectives find her daughter. Detectives spent hours interviewing these people.
During the course of the investigation on July 22, 2015 one of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office’s bloodhounds was asked to assist in the search. The bloodhound Alibi, and handler Cpl. J. A. Ratliff, tracked from the juvenile’s father’s residence to her mother’s residence 1.26 miles away in another area of Cross Lanes. The scent trail was more than 72 hours old.
Detectives spoke to witnesses that confirmed Autumn was at her mother’s residence the day she went missing, then received a ride from her mother. The juvenile was located at a residence in Alum Creek, WV on the night of July 22, 2015. No harm had come to her.
On July 23, 2015 the warrant charging Angela Fields with obstructing was obtained. She was arrested the same day.
As is always the case in criminal matters, the charge against Ms. Fields is merely an accusation. She is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Attached is a mug shot taken during her arrest.
