On June 21, 2013, in the early afternoon hours, Kanawha
County Sheriff’s Deputies S. Adams and J. Wiseman responded to an apartment on
Becca Drive, near Dalewood Drive in Cross Lanes, WV. They were dispatched
after Metro 911 received a call about a possible domestic disturbance at that
location. Upon arrival they saw a male running from the scene and a
female at the apartment indicating he was involved in the disturbance.
The male was not located, and is believed to have fled in a vehicle.
When deputies returned to the apartment they detected the
odor of marijuana. While conducting a safety check of the apartment for
any additional suspects or victims of the disturbance they saw marijuana and
baggies on a kitchen table. Members of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s
Office STOP team arrived to assist. A search warrant was obtained for the
apartment and, in addition to marijuana, $3,321.00 cash was located.
Neighbors approached the deputies during the search with two
plastic baggies. In them was a gray/white powdery substance. The
neighbors watched the male fleeing the scene of the disturbance as deputies
arrived. He ran through an area between two trailers. They then saw
some children playing in the area, and went to check on them and discovered the
two baggies. Using field test kits they identified the substance in the
baggies as heroin. The total weight of the heroin was 101 grams with an
estimated street value of $40,400.00.
The male who fled the scene was identified as 23 year old
Ayric Mack Thomas of Detroit, Michigan. A warrant was obtained for Thomas
for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Thomas is
described as a black male, 6’1”, 160 lbs. Anyone with information on the
whereabouts of Thomas is asked to call 304-357-0169, or submit a tip on our
