On January 20, 2016, Douglas Richard Eddy (41 of Malden, WV) was arrested for first degree sexual assault with a minor. He was charged following an investigation that began in early December 2016. Mr. Eddy is accused of inserting a finger into the vagina of a five year old girl. The victim is the daughter of a former co-worker of Mr. Eddy.
The victim described the event to her mother, then again to an expert at the CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital’s Child Advocacy Center. Detectives A. C. Pile and B. K. Howery of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office investigated the matter, including interviewing Mr. Eddy prior to his arrest. As is always the case in a criminal matter, the charge against Mr. Eddy is merely an accusation. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Attached is a mug shot taken during his arrest.
