This morning shortly after midnight there was a fatal shooting in building 7 at Drexel Place in Cross Lanes, WV. The victim was shot by another person known to him. He died at the scene.
The suspect fled immediately. Deputy Sheriffs with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office responded to search the area and begin an investigation. Detectives then arrived to assist with interviews and collecting evidence. They have leads in the case which they are actively following.
At the time of the shooting there were several others inside the apartment, including a toddler aged child. The incident was not random, but no theories on motive are expected to be released today beyond that.
The name of the victim will be released after family is notified. The names of any persons of interest may be released later, as well.
