This afternoon a 21 year old man arrived at Charleston Area Medical Center’s General Division with a gunshot wound to his abdomen and hand. He said he had been sitting in his car when he was shot in Hernshaw.
Deputies with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office responded and began an investigation. They determined the victim was on the parking lot of the Post Office in Hernshaw buying drugs when the dealer shot at him in his vehicle after the transaction. A passenger in the vehicle was unharmed. A single shot from a handgun went through the vehicle, into the victim’s abdomen, then into his hand. The injuries are not life-threatening.
A 17 year old male has been arrested and charged with malicious wounding in this case.
