This week Deputies from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office have investigated a series of property crimes in Cross Lanes. As of today fourteen burglaries, breaking and entering, stolen vehicle, and other recent thefts have been solved through this week’s investigations. These cases were solved by Deputies and local law enforcement officers working together, and in conjunction with our Property Crimes Detectives.
A Ford F-150 and tools stolen with it were recovered this week. Multiple storage units were broken into resulting in the theft of tools. An outbuilding was forcibly entered and tools, a computer, and other items were stolen.
This week we’ve publicized a suspect vehicle from one break-in and a doorbell video of another of these crimes. We’re grateful to those who helped us share these posts and often help us solve crimes. But in these cases, no tips were able to help.
Law enforcement officers working together is what helped these be solved. Dunbar Police Officers found suspect vehicles and identified some of the people we’d been searching for. The Nitro Police Department took a report for a burglary which they’d solved. Their suspect was connected to some of the thefts in Cross Lanes. He was arrested this week.
Steven Cobb (30 years old of Cross Lanes, WV) was arrested for grand larceny, breaking and entering, petit larceny, destruction of property, and burglary.
Keith Michael Bouton (37 years old of Charleston, WV) was charged with breaking and entering. He has not yet been arrested.
Michelle Lynn Palmer (41 years old of Belle, WV) was arrested for breaking and entering.
Jacob Aaron Hilbert (38 years old of Cross Lanes, WV) was arrested for transferring or receiving a stolen vehicle.
Samantha Dawn Peck (32 years old of Belle, WV) was arrested for breaking and entering.
Robert Lee Jewett, III (26 years old of Cross Lanes, WV) was arrested for grand larceny and a capias for other charges.
These are not all the charges we expect to stem from these investigations. Additional interviews, searches, and evidence examination are expected to take place, which may lead to more arrests.
As is always the case in criminal matters, the charges against these individuals are merely accusations. Each is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
