On July 8, 2020 a 911 call was placed from an address on Burdette Lane in Cross Lanes, WV. A man and woman called 911 from that location after fleeing a nearby residence on Wayson Drive. They said they were held at gunpoint, robbed, and victims of other crimes at that house while being held there several hours.
Deputies with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office responded and spoke with the victims who identified the couple who lives on Wayson Drive. They said Jonathan Brewer (34 years old of Cross Lanes, WV) brandished a pistol at them, forced them to sign over a vehicle, held a gun to their heads, and committed other crimes. At one point he fired a round into the ceiling of his residence.
Deputies then went to the residence on Wayson Drive to investigate. They were met by Mr. Brewer’s girlfriend. While there they saw what appeared to be a gunshot hole in the ceiling. They later located Mr. Brewer at another nearby residence.
Mr. Brewer has been arrested, charged with wanton endangerment. Detectives are currently investigating the matter, and Mr. Brewer is expected to soon face additional charges in this incident.
As is always the case in criminal matters, the charges are merely accusations. Mr. Brewer is innocent unless and until proven guilty.
