This morning I received notification of a COVID-19 positive Bailiff among our ranks. At this time, the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Deputy has mild symptoms and appears to be doing well. Our Bailiff is in my thoughts and prayers, as well as his family. And we all wish him a speedy recovery.
Proper precautions have been taken as a result of this positive case. Those who had direct contact with the positive person are under self-isolation. Dr. Sherri Young, Chief Health Officer of the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department, is advising the Sheriff’s Office on the proper protocol to follow regarding this case.
Dr. Young has been very helpful to the Sheriff’s Office throughout this pandemic. She has ensured that our department has been made aware of all guidelines and procedures for Law Enforcement agencies to protect themselves and the public. We are grateful for all she is doing to help protect the community.
