Today, I was notified of a positive COVID-19 Case involving a Sheriff’s Department Employee. The Sheriff’s Office is working with the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department to complete proper contact tracing to determine if any other employees in the Sheriff’s Department were in direct contact with the positive employee. Law Enforcement faces unique challenges while dealing with enforcement issues during the COVID-19 Pandemic. While safety precautions are taken, officers on the front line face exposure issues from time to time. Even though all safety precautions are taken exposures still occur.
