Early this morning, around 2:45 a.m., Corporal S. M. Adams saw a white Chevrolet Cobalt being driven erratically near East Bank. As the car arrived in Crown Hill, WV, a traffic stop was initiated.
During the course of the stop Cpl. Adams conducted a search of the vehicle and found $1,785 in cash, and small amounts of suspected methamphetamine and cocaine, as well as drug paraphernalia. She also located approximately 80 grams of methamphetamine separate from the smaller amounts. Both the driver and occupant were arrested.
The driver, Cassey Pettry (40 years old of Eskdale, WV), was charged with DUI by a habitual user of drugs, driving while suspended, possessing a controlled substance, and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. The passenger, Trena Cottrell (35 years old of Dawes, WV), was charged with conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance.
As is always the case in criminal matters, the charges against Mrs. Pettry and Mrs. Cottrell are merely accusations. Each is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
