On June 1, 2014, at approximately 9:00 p.m. a crashed golf cart was discovered on private property in the Alum Creek area. The cart had been traveling along a gravel road, and traveled off the road over an embankment. The driver was thrown from the cart and the golf cart rolled on top of the driver.

Claudia L. Workman (77 of Alum Creek, WV) was driving the cart and died, presumably due to the injuries sustained in the crash. The property on which the crash occurred was owned by Mrs. Workman and her husband.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office were on scene to investigate. Assistance was provided by the Alum Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority.

Seat belts are typically not installed on golf carts, and none was available for use on this model.
